U.S. Charge d'Affaires visits Milembe School
U.S. Charge d'Affaires Inmi Patterson visited Milembe School yesterday, November 28th to officially open the first teacher house on the campus. The project was funded through the U. S. Embassy’s Community Grants Program to Africa Schoolhouse in 2016 and completed last June. The latest teacher house prototype developed by Scattergood Design featured a compact footprint and a shallow arched roof which recalls the traditional thatch roofs in the Sukuma region and utilizes smaller trusses which are easier for the crew to fabricate and install. Florencia Ndubashe, Head Teacher for Milembe School, who has partnered with Africa Schoolhouse and us since initial planning in 2013, official cut the ribbon with Ms. Patterson after giving her a tour of the new science buildings.
