The Girls Foundation of Tanzania, Arusha

The Girls Foundation of Tanzania provides merit-based scholarships to girls living in extreme poverty. They partner with each student for 10 years, from secondary school through university. They believe girls need more than a financial scholarship; they need a tight-knit community of like-minded girls and mentors and youth-centered, wraparound interventions that promote positive life skills development. To boost girls’ leadership potential, TGFT offera quality and relevant educational opportunities beyond the Tanzanian classroom at The Girls Center.

The Center also provides a quiet place after regular school hours for almost 60 local children in grades 1-7, giving the access to scarce curriculum textbooks as well as reading for pleasure.  Scattergood Design is  honored to be working with TGFT to plan its first permanent home, to be constructed in partnership with our long-time collaborators: the masons, carpenters, engineers and staff of Africa Schoolhouse.  To learn more about their programs, go to:  https://www.girlsfoundationoftanzania.org/
