Milembe School Lands on Google Earth
The rooftops of the Science Labs, as well as the new latrines and storage building, have appeared on Google Earth. We’re not sure how often the countryside of Tanzania is flown and updated, but it’s exciting that anyone in the world can monitor the progress of the Milembe School for Girls from afar.
Closer to reality on many levels, the latest progress photos from Jefta Kishosha in the field show how far the project has come. The terrace that links the labs features curved steps that can be used as seating and is surfaced with concrete pavers made on site. Concrete lab benches are finished and hooked up to the plumbing, waiting for the big rainwater storage tank to be lifted onto its foundations. Stools for the lab benches, as well as desks for students and teachers, are being completed at the workshops at the Bujora Museum. With the final windows due to arrive in the next few weeks, classes should start soon.
